Pipeline 3/4 Interconnect
Construction of the Pipeline 3 and 4 interconnection located in the Scripps Lake, Highway 52 and Miramar Hill areas.
Contract Value: $1,296,800
Contract Completion: January 2005
This project included the excavation, demolition, removal and disposal of existing pre-stressed concrete cylinder pipe (PCCP) and the installation of cement mortar lined and coated steel pipe and appurtenant work. The work at Scripps Lake and Highway 52 included the installation of “T” connections and interconnect piping with internal dished heads to allow water flow from one pipeline to another. The project included the concrete encasement of Pipelines 3 and 4 and the construction of large concrete vaults. At the Miramar Hill project site PCCP pipe was removed and interconnections between Pipelines 3 and 4 were constructed. The work was difficult due to the significant elevation changes between Pipelines 3 and 4 and due to the rocky ground conditions. Construction included the installation of a dresser coupling with removable flanges and a concrete vault to permit isolation of the pipelines.
